In many areas of The Gambia, accessing healthcare is still not easy. For many families, even a medical consultation can mean travelling long distances and facing costs they cannot always afford. In these circumstances, an easily treatable health problem can develop into a far more serious difficulty.

The Care Center was created to bring healthcare closer to the people. Today, it is an active facility that provides the community with professional and accessible care.

The centre offers nursing consultations, treatments, wound care, advice, prevention activities and health education. The Care Center also supports families and works with local hospitals and healthcare professionals, creating a care network that can continue to support people when more specialised treatment is required.

The project continues to grow together with the community, improving its services and responding to the real needs of the local area.

There are also plans to introduce a home care service.

Because access to healthcare should not depend on distance or on a family’s financial situation.
